UEFA soccer is an annual European football tournamen, held under the auspices of the European champions Leagueand takes the second place among all the Champions League. Before the season 1997/1998 this one of the best football tournaments consisted of two games. Since the season 1999/2000 the UEFA Cup holders fall into the national cups. This decision was taken due to the merger of two competitions – the UEFA Cup and Winners’ Cup.

As for the UEFA Cup final rules it has the following format. At the initial stage the UEFA Cup teams from countries whose rating is not very high play together in the three qualifying rounds for places in the main tournament knockout. The main tournament of the UEFA Cup is divided into three stages. The first involves 80 teams, who spend each round knockout. Then 40 winners are split into eight groups (five teams in each group), group games take place in one round, in which each team plays four games – two games are played at home and two matches – on the field of rivals. The next stage invites the three best teams. They are added with eight teams, that took the third place in the group round of the Champions League. The remaining 32 teams form the third stage of the UEFA Cup start the knockout games from the 1/16 finals.

Starting with season 2009/2010 UEFA Cup has a different format: 4 qualifying rounds, group stage and the playoffs (starting with 1/16 finals) and now it is called ‘UEFA Europa League’. Clubs qualified for the UEFA Europa League fall into the qualifying round, the number of which depends on the rating of the federation, as well as on the places in the national championship. Each club holds six matches against his group mates: 3 – at home and 3 – away. The top two teams from each group come to the playoffs. In the playoffs there added 8 clubs who are the winners of the 3 seats in the Champions League group stage. Next draw will be conducted on the traditional European Cup circuit at the departure of the two matches (home and away). The final consists of a single match. This format will be valid at least for season 2011/12 inclusive.

Trophy UEFA Cup is a silver cup weighing 15 kilograms. It has no handes, so the trophy looks simple and elegant. The figures of players leading the fight for the ball are not only a decorative function, but also the things to provide structural stability – they are responsible for the UEFA logo.
